Our site at the SIAFDs 2017
Shane McDonald and Graham Petrie attended the SIAFDs held at Kirwee 30 kms west of Christchurch.
The weather leading up to the event was wet and this created some very muddy conditions for exhibitors setting up their displays and for visitors attending the event.
Most vehicles, including some 4wds, needed to be towed both onto and from the site during the set-up period as the track conditions were very muddy. Fortunately the organising committee had a team of tractors and ATVs that could tow any stuck vehicles in and out of the grounds.
On the last day the weather did improve with the sun arriving to help dry out the grounds. The organisers expected 30,000 visitors over the two days visiting the 600 + exhibitors.
We had some good enquiry for our sheds which will be attended to in the next two weeks.
Some exhibitors I spoke with reported that they had a fairly quiet time with less site visitors than they had expected. Perhaps the weather had a negative impact on the event this year.
